OCI to Host Association Leadership Roundtable

December 6, 2008 at 1:23 am 4 comments

Next up for Oregon Creative Industries: hosting roundtable discussions with the leadership of various creative economy-related associations, guilds, etc.  We have invited leaders from over 25 associations (either Oregon-based or Oregon chapters) to the first meeting this month.  We’ve already had 1-on-1 discussions with many of them, but this will be the first group gathering.  We’ll host a second roundtable in January for those who can’t make the first one.

This is a logical continuation of the approach that started at the inaugural Cre8Camp in July, which is to involve groups and community members across the multiple disciplines involved in the overall creative economy and then listen to input and feedback to in order to understand how OCI can add value and best serve the professionals,  companies and associations that make up Oregon’s creative economy.

The roundtable leadership discussions will be available via live Web and phone conference in order to facilitate 2-way participation from those around the state who can’t attend the Portland-based meetings in-person.

I saw the article in the Oregonian on Sunday. I am very interested in any way the artistic community can come together to help support and promote one another. It is about time! When exactly is this roundtable discussion going to take place? I see no date.

Your group sounds very exciting, and would love to receive info, be involved with roundtable discussions, and learn more.

I am both Director of an Arts Festival, working potter and member of the Oregon Potters Assn, which produces Ceramic Showcase, the largest all-pottery show in the US, held each spring at OCC.

I moved from Portland, Oregon to Los Angeles,California to pursue my fine art career. When a major national art gallery in California wanted me to join their gallery…but not as a California artist…but as a Portland, Oregon artist, I decided it was time to move back to Portland, Oregon. The news in California is of Portland. After many years of traveling back and forth to the New York art scene from Los Angeles….Portland’s art scene has become a breath of fresh air for the whole country. Please let me know of your roundtable meeting …the location…and the date and time. It is so good to be back. Thankyou!
